Exam and Study Guide: Exam Preparedness

   Schedule time to study for each of your exams
 
   Prioritise time according to the length of the exam and the level of difficulty

Practice Past Exam Papers

1. Practice doing past exam papers so that you are familiar with the material, the exam paper layout and the types of questions that are asked. 

2. Allocate yourself the same exam time and see how long it takes for each section of the paper.

3. Having taking a practice exam paper, evaluate your answers and identify where you can improve on the responses. 

4. Then focus on planning answers that are in line with the expected questions on the upcoming exam.

Past Exam Papers

You can access the past exam papers in Blackboard by going to the Past Exam Paper Repository. 

 

Accessing Exam Information

You can access exam information from the SETU website by going to the Student Hub and then linking to Exams section. In the exam section, choose the Carlow / Wexford option to view details of the timetable and dates, exam venue, exam results, procedures and rules and FAQs.

Organising your Exam Answers

Select the materials you need to use for the exam 

Choose some important citations (name and date required)

Decide if the information can be used for various exam questions
 

Multiple Choice Questions

  • Read the questions carefully
  • Remember the answer is on the paper
  • Answer the easy questions first
  • Try to come up with your answer before checking the choices
  • If you are not sure of an answer, try to work out logically which answer it could be

Short Answer Questions

  • Prepare some examples ahead of your exam
  • Ensure that you answer all parts of the question
  • Provide concise answers and avoid waffling
  • Allocate your time based on the marks assigned to each question
  • If you can't remember the answers - think back to topics covered in class
