As part of the IREL arrangements there are Open Access publishing agreements in place. This means there is continued access to journal subscriptions and now there is the added option of submitting your research for publication to these resources. Generally these agreements are based on a fixed number of OA (Open Access) articles each year. Researchers who wish to use an OA agreement should allow for the length of time that the peer review process can take with individual publishers. Individual publishers can advise on timescales for publication.

Benefits of publishing Open Access through the IRel agreements
At South East Technological University (SETU), researchers can benefit from the university's membership in the Irish Research e-Library (IReL) consortium, which has established Open Access publishing agreements with several major publishers. These agreements allow you as an SETU researcher to publish your work Open Access without incurring additional APC costs, subject to annual quotas and specific terms.
Allocation of APCs
Several IReL agreements provide a limited annual quota of Article Processing Charges (APCs) to the consortium. Article Processing Charges (APCs) are distributed to consortium members on a first-come, first-served basis. Therefore, it's essential to verify the remaining APC quota with the library.

To search within this list for journals where SETU corresponding authors can publish articles OA, at no cost, please select the third worksheet labelled 'README', then select SETU from the list there.
**Publishers can modify their journal lists by adding or removing titles. Therefore, it's crucial to check the list before submitting an article for publication, especially if you plan to use an Open Access APC from these agreements.**.
